Rylstone's New Teacher.
"Our local public school teacher, Mr. G. F. Maguire, has been offered and has accepted a transfer to Rylstone, Mr. W. Anderson, headmaster at Rylstone, after a residence of seven years, has been promoted to Young. Mr. Maguire has occupied the position of head teacher at Coonamble for a little over two years, during which time he has performed his duties with infinite credit to himself and to his pupils. He is a very able teacher, possessed of ability and high qualifications, and we feel sure the parents of the children attending the local public school will regret his departure. Rylstone school ranks in the same class as Coonamble school, but when the very great advantage in climate is considered the transfer is more than equal to promotion. In his private capacity Mr. Maguire has also proved himself a very desirable citizen. He has taken a keen interest in most public movements for the advancement of the town, and in local public institutions such as the Hospital and the School of Arts, having been elected to the committee of both those institutions." - "Coonamble Independent.7

Rylstone School Destroyed
A DISASTROUS BLAZE
The Rylstone nippers are on holidays.
At 9.30 o'clock this morning a fire started in the school, and in an amazingly short space of time the building was completely destroyed. In the absence of an efficient water supply very little could be done in the way of effective fire fighting.
Brief particulars to hand state that the blaze started in the roof, which is of shingles and iron, and was caused by a heated flue leading from a fire place in a room occupied by the smaller boys and girls. When the alarm was given the scholars retired in good order, and efforts were concentrated on saving the school material.
At one time it was feared that the fire would extend to the school residence, but fortunately the wind changed at the critical moment, and further disaster was thus averted12

Rylstone School.
Mr. H. V. C. Thorby, M.L.A., has been notified by the Director of Education that the matter of accommodation at the Rylstone Public School has received consideration. The contract has been signed for the erection of the new school building at this place. In order to afford relief during the hot weather in February and March, a marquee tent is being supplied to give temporary accommodation during these months. If this is not sufficient the local inspector of schools has been asked to submit a report as to whether it could be advisable to close down the school during the hot period13
