TEACHER WITHDRAWN DEPARTMENT'S ALTERNATIVES
Mr. W. F. Dunn, M.L.A., has received from the Minister for Education, Mr D. H. Drummond the following letter:
I desire to inform you that I have given further consideration to your representations regarding the Linburn provisional school. I find that the prospects of a minimum average attendance of ten pupils being maintained are not sufficiently bright to warrant the continuance of the school. I regret, therefore, that the Department has found it necessary to withdraw the teacher.
I would suggest that the parents avail themselves of the departmental subsidy towards the employment of a private teacher, subsidy to aid the conveyance of children to existing schools or enrolment in the Department's Correspondence School as means for the education of their children. I enclose full particulars of these alternatives. I may add that should a subsidised school be established, the Department will grant the use of the school building and equipment7 .
