The Breakfast Creek School.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, - Through an oversight I have neglected to write and thank Member Richards for his kindness. I am sure he wasted no time in trying to secure a teacher for our school at Breakfast Creek, Rylstone. We have a very good young man, and the children are in raptures over him. I am sure as a teacher he will be well liked about this part. We are very thankful to Member Richards indeed to work so earnestly for our benefit.

Breakfast Creek School Inquiry.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, - A few days ago an inquiry was held at the Breakfast Creek Public School, in order to collect evidence as to the truth or otherwise of the charges made in the report to the Education Department concerning the teacher at the above-named place. What the allegations in the report were I do not know. What I wish to point out is the manner in which Mr. Rooney, who was sent to hold an inquiry, proceeded to set about the work. In the first place, Mr. Rooney drives, or is driven to the residence of the person who furnished the report against the teacher, where, I believe, he stayed to dine, and afterwards journeyed to the school (where the inquiry was held) in a buggy, owned and driven by the person whose charges against the teacher he had been ordered to investigate. Mr. Rooney may see nothing objectionable in this, but I certainly think such inquiries should be conducted in a manner calculated to impress the public with a sense of their impartiality. - Yours, etc.,
JUSTICE.
Rylstone, October 22nd, 1900.
3 " rel="">We are always glad to give the fullest opportunity to expressions of public opinion. We have always known Mr. Rooney as a most conscientious public servant, and he has by strict impartiality and unvarying courtesy, earned the unanimous esteem of the district teachers. - Ed. %22G.%223

Wedding at Rylstone.
Yesterday afternoon the wedding was solemnised at Rylstone of Mr Olde, teacher of the Breakfast Creek Public School, and Miss Keech, daughter of Mr Edwin Keech, of Lilydale, near Rylstone5 .

BREAKFAST CREEK SCHOOL.
It is pleasing at all times to record an advance, and doubly so when it comes from real merit. Mr. Alex. Ritchie has not been long in charge of the Breakfast Creek School, but during his sojourn has doubled the school attendance6 .

20 May 1909
EMPIRE DAY.
Mr. Ritchie, teacher of the Breakfast Creek school, intends to hold a function there, and distribute prizes to his scholars with a picnic on Empire Day. Lue's popular teacher, Mr. Young is also providing for the celebration of Empire day in a fitting manner. Locally, the picnic and concert programme is being completed, and everything that can impress the nature of the day's rejoicing in the youngsters' minds is being given a prominent place in the programme7 .

8 November 1909
A TEACHER'S COMPLAINT.
Mr. J. F. Olde, teacher of the Meranburn public school, writes: - "Would you kindly allow me space to contradict a par from the pen of your Rylstone correspondent, re Breakfast Creek school, appearing in your issue of the 30th ult. Your correspondent states that when the present teacher took charge of the Breakfast Creek school the enrolment was only 17, but has since increased to over 30. As the present teacher's predecessor, I wish to give an unqualified denial to such an assertion. I consider the statement casts a reflection upon me as a teacher, as it would naturally lead the outside public to the conclusion that the parents of Breakfast Creek thought me so incompetent that they refused to send their children until a new teacher took charge. During the time I was in charge of the school - nearly five years - the average daily attendance for the year was always close on 25 as near as I can remember, and how such figures can be obtained from an enrolment of 17 would, I think, test the mathematical ability of even the Commonwealth Treasurer. In conclusion, I think your correspondent is either grossly ignorant of the facts, or is a near relation of the late lamented Ananias. (Our Rylstone representative is usually very accurate in his statements, and would not wittingly cast a reflection on anyone. He was doubtless misinformed in the case Mr. Olde refers to. - Ed. "M.G."8 )

RUFFLED THE WRONG WAY.
In the "Guardian" of the 8th instant, Mr. Olde, formerly teacher of Breakfast Creek school, but now stationed at Meranburn, states that in reporting that the roll at the former school had increased from 17 to 30, I am either grossly ignorant of facts, or I belong to the Annanias brand of humanity. Now, I do not desire to follow in Mr. Okie's style of writing, even though he be a school teacher, and from whom we are entitled to expect something better than "gutter raking." I had my information from the best possible source, and notwithstanding Mr. Olde's assertion, I believe it to be correct. I did not assert that Mr. Olde never had 25 children on the roll, nor had I any intention of reflecting on him in anyway. It is quite possible, amidst the changing scenes of life, for school attendances to go up and down. People have their likes and dislikes. It is a free country, and though Mr. Olde may have been well liked and respected as a teacher in the locality, still it does not follow, because he was well liked and respected, that a better teacher than even Mr. Olde could come to Breakfast Creek. Anyway, without attributing any credit to Mr. Ritchie, the present master, or reflecting on Mr. Olde, the fact of there being a very much larger number of children attending school under Mr. Ritchie speaks for itself. The locality is evidently progressing in the right way, and I am sure the whole community would be glad to hear of the attendance reach-ing 30. You have been too hasty, my friend. Think always before writing, and keep out of the "gutter.9 "

3 June 1915
EMPIRE DAY AT BREAKFAST CREEK.
Always to the fore, in anything that is helpful to the children's enjoyment, Mr. Ritchie, teacher in charge of Breakfast Creek School, was not behind in celebrating Empire Day. Assisted by willing neighbors, Mr. Ritchie had arranged a very nice programme, and gave heaps of fun to the youngsters, which was equally enjoyed by the adults. Breakfast Creek residents rallied round Mr. Ritchie's efforts, and it was a thoroughly successful day in every respect, and wound up with a dance at night, which was well attended. The result of the effort was £20, and this, in addition to a regular monthly contribution of £4, speaks volumes for the loyalty of Breakfast Creek10 .

GENERAL ITEMS.
Mr. Ritchie, for many years teacher in charge of Breakfast Creek School, has been transferred to Guyra, and left for his new home during the week. Mr. Ritchie was an enthusiastic golfer, and will be missed from the club meetings11 .

Breakfast Greek.
School Matters. - Mr. L. W. Aynsley commenced duties here as teacher on Monday, 21st instant. The school attendance is good, and Mr. Aynsley hopes to carry on the duties as creditably as his predecessor, Mr. Ritchie, had done. Mr. Ritchie was removed to the public school at Garah, near Moree, this being promotion for him12 .

EGG DAY FOR THE HOSPITAL
The pupils of the Breakfast Creek Public School held an "egg day" last week, and as a result 22 dozen eggs were forwarded to the Rylstone District Hospital. This is a wonderful effort on behalf of such a small number to help their hospital, and the example might easily be followed by other schools in the district18 .
