SCHOOL FUNCTION AT TAMBAROORA.
On Friday a school picnic was held in the grounds of the Tambaroora Public School.
The weather conditions were ideal for picnicing and a most enjoyable day was spent by the children and their parents, together with a few of their young friends from Grathlyn and Hill End schools.
The day was spent in various games and foot-running and each child received a liberal remuneration for their efforts in cash prizes.
Mr. Hogan who has had charge of the school for barely twelve months, has won the entire confidence of every child and his attention to their welfare during the day was specially noted by the visitors. Tea was served in the shelter shed about sundown. The children afterwards returned to their respective homes well satisfied with their day's outing, and wondering when such another day would come again.
A dance held in the school-room after the picnic was well patronised. About 100 persons were present. The music was supplied by Mr. Barnett of Hill End and Mr. G. Knightley of Dun Dun. Mr. Oliver officiated as M.C.
The door receipts which amounted to £7, together with other collections are to be devoted to the purchase of a typewriter for the school.
A chocolate waltz and a gold waltz were included on the programme, the former being won by Mr. N. Cross and Miss V. Bennett and the latter by Mr. G. Ellis and Mrs. Hocking.
Mr. Hogan was the donor of the box of chocolates and Mrs. W. Hamilton donated the speck of gold. Refreshments were served at midnight, after which dancing was resumed until faint streaks of daylight began to appear above the horizon6
