RYLSTONE.
Some school changes amongst the principals have occurred in this locality. It is very gratifying to know that the female teachers are without exception sincere and good workers in the arduous duties of their profession. We have one noble example in the clever young lady who fills the position, and has the onerous labour of supervising the Glen Lee and Nulla Mountain half-time schools. But the herculean task is so adroitly managed, and with so much cheerfulness and so much ability that both pupils and parents unanimously pay tribute to the worth of the services rendered to them in so punctual and praiseworthy a manner. It is strange though, but true, that both pupils and parents are afraid to spread their esteem and regard too wide, for fear of the promotion and removal of their valued teacher. It may be selfish; it may be unjust on their part, but it is, as Sam Slick says, "human nature," the very first law, too - "self-preservation." This gifted young lady, who came straight from the best of training grounds, viz., a leading public school in the metropolitan suburbs, is Miss Rose Simpson4

SCHOOL TEACHER KILLED.
Miss Sophia Jacques was found dead at Nulla Creek. She was the teacher of the Nulla School. Miss Jacques had been riding a horse, and it is presumed that the animal bolted with her, and dragged her for some distance5
