26 September 1935
Mudgee-Gulgong Road Race
(By 'War Horse')
IN conjunction with Messrs. Wilde and May of the Post Office Hotel, Gulgong, the Mudgee Bicycle Club will run off a road race on Saturday afternoon next, starting at the Post Office Hotel in Mudgee (Mr. Reg. Lord's) and finishing at the Post Office Hotel, Gulgong. The race will be a very keenly contested one, especially for the fastest time prize which win be for a very valuable silver cup, kindly donated by Mr. Len. Price, storekeeper of Gulgong. All the best riders of the Mudgee Club will be taking part in the race as well as the lesser lights, the former on their starts being determined to make the back men co their hardest, so the race should be one of the best of the season. It is hoped to start the race punctually at 2.30 p.m. so all concerned are asked to be sure and be ready at that time. It is just possible that there will also be a junior race, depends on how many youths are willing to take part. The proprietors of the Post Office Hotel, Gulgong, will make a liberal donation to the prize list and it is hoped that several racing men of the Gulgong club will compete in the race. We hope to see a big field.
