FIRE AT AN HOTEL.
(FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.)
MUDGEE, Monday.
Mr. William Thompson's Travellers' Rest Hotel, opposite the Lue railway station, was partially destroyed by fire on Saturday at midnight. The fire originated in the proprietor's bedroom, and is supposed to have been caused by a candle igniting the curtains. In a few minutes the bar, dining-room, parlour, and bedroom were a mass of flames, roaring and leaping to a great height. The alarm raised the neighbours, who flocked to assist without avail. Other bedrooms and the adjoining store caught several times, and in 15 minutes not a stick remained of the four rooms mentioned. The furniture, piano, and premises were partially covered by insurance1
