Lue.
(From Our Correspondent).
Mr. Thompson, proprietor of the Lue store and butchery, opened his new premises with a fine display on Saturday last. The building, which is of concrete, is a credit to the contractor, Mr. A. Murphy. We trust Host Thompson will do well1 .

HISTORIC STORE in the Mudgee district is Thompson’s general store at Lue, shown here. The store was built of concrete in 1913 replacing two earlier structures, one of wood and the other of fibro. The late John Thompson built the first store in Lue in 1885. At one time he also had the hotel and post office. His son Ken, aged 65, now runs the store and Ken says that his son Max, 38, will carry on the business when he is gone.
Ken says that his father sold the hotel in 1929 and the post office also was transferred to another storekeeper.
The store remains the character of a general store, catering to all needs of the district. The store sells the Mudgee Guardian2 .
