Mrs Brophy resumes teaching
Mrs. Brophy, mistress of the Goolma Public School, has again resumed duties, and Miss Jeffrys, her locum tenens, has been transferred to Cullen Bullen. A very pleasing function took place at the school before Miss. Jeffrys relinquished her temporary charge. The pupils and parents tendered her a farewell in the form of an afternoon tea and musical party, ending the occasion by the presentation of a beautiful silver-mounted manicure set, suitably inscribed3

Weathershed Request
At a meeting of the Goolma P. and C. Association, held on the 7th instant, a resolution was passed that a letter be forwarded to Mr. W. F. Dunn. M.L.A., drawing his attention to the overcrowding of the Goolma school, and requesting that the closed school building at Twelve Mile be removed to Goolma to serve the purpose of a weather shed and emergency classroom. Though but recently formed, the association is very active. The balance sheet for the year showed a credit of over £24, which speaks for itself6

Weathershed Refused
MR. W. F. Dunn, M.L.A., has been advised by the Acting Director of Education (Mr. B. C. Harkness) as follows: -
"I refer to your personal representations on behalf of the Goolma Parents and Citizens' Association, the Hon. secretary of which is Miss Hazel Skinner, relative to the erection of a weathershed at that centre.
"By direction of the Hon. D. H. Drummond, M.L.A. Minister for Education, I have to advise you that this matter has been investigated. Inquiry has disclosed that the accommodation already provided in the school building Is sufficient to meet requirements at this centre. In the .circumstances, therefore, the request of the Parents and Citizens' Association cannot be acceded to7
