Bruce, man of mystery and surprise
Prominent sport and business man around Mudgee, Bruce McGregor has proved that people really are full of surprises, hosting his own art exhibition at the Butcher Shop Café this Wednesday, April 4.
Mr McGregor has surprised many who know him with his artistic revelation, yet he says it has always been something he has wanted to do.
"When I was studying sign writing at tech I always had a strong interest for art and I guess it has always been something I thought I should be able to do," he said.
Mr McGregor is always on the move doing something for work, the community or his family, but says painting and art are his escape from everyday pressures.
"Painting really relaxes me and I like the satisfaction of a finished product," he said.
Mr McGregor's theme for his exhibition is vineyards and pop art, which has caught the interest of Butcher Shop owner, James O'Neill.
"Some people are full of surprises and this fellow is one of them," he said.
Mr O'Neill said he was impressed with Mr McGregor's style.
"I think it's fantastic to see another side of someone's personality," Mr O'Neill said.
Mr McGregor said if his art works are received well this Wednesday, he will be overly delighted.
"I am really nervous about the exhibition; I don't know whether people will just laugh or actually like them," Mr McGregor said.
"If it's received well then I will continue with the exhibitions, if not then I can always paint over them," he said.
Mr McGregor said he has plans to paint more artworks around the theme of sport in the near future.
The exhibition starts at 7pm and is open to everyone to enjoy, although an RSVP to the Butcher Shop Café to help with numbers would be appreciated on 6372 7373.
All of Mr McGregor's artworks will be available for sale during the exhibition, and all at very affordable prices1 .
