HER FATHER'S JACKAROO.
The pictures above show Joan Atkinson, the 11 year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geoff N. Atkinson, Little Plain, Mudgee. Because she has no brothers and is the elder of two sisters, she calls herself her father's jackaroo, and has a decided talent for mustering stock. She is a pupil at S . C . E . G . G . S . , Darlingliurst, and holidays to her mean all day out-of-doors and most of it in the saddle. She is seen with her favourite pony Chips in the top picture droving 2000 sheep to the shearing shed with the aid of her dog, and the lower picture was taken after the sheep had been shorn3 .

SHOW RIDER KILLED
MUDGEE, Friday.- Riding in a costume race on horseback at Mudgee Show yesterday, Edward Webb, 26, manager of A. K. Scott's Little Plain Station, Cudgegong, fell and sustained a compound fracture of the base of the skull. He died last night. He was a son of Mr. L. Webb, of Narromine, and was married 10 months ago8 .
