Talooby Angus sell to $2811
Steers from Talooby Angus Stud at Bylong sold to a top price $2811 at the Mudgee Fat Cattle sale on Wednesday.
The pen of steers, with a top weight of 833kg and averaging 737kg, was sold to processor.
Talooby Angus principal Peter Grieve said the sale was a 'tremendous result'.
'The cattle sold exceptionally well, even given the current elevated market,' he said.
Mr Grieve said the cattle were bigger than he would usually sell, but due to the drought conditions they took longer to finish and had to be finished on grain.
Mr Grieve also sold two bulls at Wednesday's sale, with a top price of $2318.
Elders territory sales manager Phillip Davies said larger cattle at the sale were highly sought after by processors.
The result for the Talooby steers reflected the quality of the cattle as well as the strong market, he said.
Thirty cattle were offered at Wednesday's sale, grossing $70,226.
Mr Davies said that although the market had eased from earlier weeks, demand remained strong at Wednesday's sale4 .
