Closing time for ‘best store in town’
After 19 and a half years, the 'Best Store In Town' will close in Bylong.
It's a new chapter in the lives of the Bylong General Store owners - Jodie Nancarrow and Jayne Watson.
"We're moving north, up to the Coffs Coast, to be closer to family, good friends and the weather is a tad warmer," Jodie said.
"We just want to say a huge 'thank you' to the community for the support.
"It's just time to move now," she said.
An open cut and underground coal mine are proposed for the region.
"It's been a wonderful experience to be involved in the community and the passing trade," Jodie said.
"A highlight for us was being heavily involved in the Bylong Mouse Races, which operated for 25 years."
Jodie and Jayne plan to take six months off in their new location and "just enjoy life for a while and then something will find us".
A huge clearing sale will be held at the Bylong General Store on Saturday, June 24, with a barbecue and a bonfire after the sale to allow the community to say 'goodbye'.
