Pyangle Progress - Mr. W. Clarke, eldest son of Mrs. S. Abrams, of 'Fairview,' has taken up his residence in his new home, erected on his recently acquired farm. The building is a most substantial one of rubble masonry, the stone for which, was got on his mother's property adjoining, and of a very suitable kind. The rooms are very lofty and the walls are finished in plaster of French grey, being the dominating color, whilst art metal has been utilised in lining the ceilings, and the design of same is very chaste. The kitchen deserves special mention. Besides having a handsome cooking range built, there is also an open hearth fireplace, and what is a still greater comfort, the water tap is inside over a handsome enamelled trough, so connected to carry all drainage outside. The whole gave evidence of good taste and judgment that contributes to the comfort of home. Mr. W. Taylor, J.P., of Rylstone, was entrusted with the supervision of the contract, which was executed in a most highly satisfactory manner. The stone work was done by Mr. Howe, and the woodwork and finishing trades by Mr. C. Taylor, of Rylstone. A few of Mr. and Mrs. Clarke's friends gave them a surprise party, when songs and recitations were given and a most pleasant evening spent, during which Mr. J. G. Keegan, on behalf of the company, conveyed to Mr. and Mrs. Clarke the cordial wishes of the party that they would be spared to see many happy and prosperous days in their new home, 'Baroona.' Mr. Clarke said it was truly a surprise party, as they were just about to go to bed. He thanked them for their kind wishes and the pleasant evening spent. Amongst the visitors was Miss Murie Clarke, home on her holidays from Bathurst hospital, looking well and hearty, also Mrs. C. Merton, of North Sydney. Mrs. Hickey and members of her family supplied the music1
