AUROFODINA.
Often one asks what has become of many of the well-performed Australian bred stallions that were popular idols of the turf a year or two back. Some - only a few - have been given a chance in good studs. Some of the best of them have drifted into obscurity, so far as opportunity to make a name at the stud is concerned.
One of these great Australian-breds is Aurofodina, recently purchased by Mr. A. R. Gosper, of Camboon, Rylstone.
For a year or two Aurofodina has been standing somewhere on the South Coast, probably doing a heap towards improving saddle horses in the district, but getting little or no chance of siring anything good enough to represent him on the turf. A great racehorse himself, Aurofodina would surely be a success at the stud if properly mated to produce gallopers. He is magnificently constructed, a real weight-carrier, and most fashionably bred.
Some day our racing men will awaken. They will understand what they have missed by neglecting the magnificent, tough Australian thoroughbred sires in their craze for imported blood5
