A golden opportunity in historic Gulgong
The Stables Guest House, at 149 Mayne Street, Gulgong, is for auction on November 26.
Built in 1885, in the Gothic Revival style, The Stables has been restored to its original grandeur and is one of more than 180 Heritage-listed buildings in the town.

It was built for the Souter family, who once ran one of two dispensaries in the town. Their original shop was a bark hut near the Centennial Hotel. The Souter family lived in the house until the mid-1930s. Then the house had a number of owners between the 1930s and mid-1970s when it was bought and restored.

Now operating as a bed and-breakfast establishment, The Stables has three double bedrooms in the main house and a further two bedrooms, interconnecting sunroom and a loft in the original stable building as well as relaxing living areas.

The agent is Gail Austin, at Raine and Horne Springwood on (0247) 51 5144. Inspections are by appointment. More than $400,000 is expected2 .
