Gulgong Clay into Pots

Mr. Cunningham came to Lithgow from Sydney lat year and converted an old stable for use as a pottery factory.
His business is expanding.
Gulgong clay, which has been used extensively in industry, is now being sought by potter from all parts of the state.
Mr. Phil Crossley of the Puggoon Kaolin Company said that he intended going into the pre-packaging of crude clays for the retail trade.
Mr. Crossley said, “The plastic qualities of the Puggoon clay makes the product attractive to potters.
“It is a good throwing clay for potters”, he said.
“Combined with its slow fusion, its dual qualities make it an appealing medium for potters to use.”
Mr. Crossley said that the growing interest in his product prompted moves to cater for the wholesale and retail trade.
