DEPARTURE.
Mr. A. P. Stewart, late manager of the Australian Joint Stock Bank here, left on Monday for Sydney. On Saturday his friends presented him with an address and testimonial. He is succeeded by Mr. James Bowes, the late accountant, an appointment which is hailed with much satisfaction here2 .

(Advertiser)
GOLD, BRIGHT GOLD.
Last week Mr. W. R. Bentzen, manager of the local branch of the A.J.S. Bank, sent away the usual escort of 550ozs. of gold. This parcel was alluvial gold and had been purchased during the last four months. This is proof positive that our field is a long way from being "duffered out" yet, and helps to support the reasonable belief of experienced miners that there is more gold yet undiscovered about Gulgong than has previously been unearthed3 .
