The Augustine Winery was started by a Sydney doctor shortly after World War I. The vineyards fell into disuse after World War II until Augustine was purchased by a group of Sydneysiders in 1968. In 1978 the vineyards were destroyed by fire. They were re-established by a group of Mudgee businessmen in 1983 and produced their first bottling under the current management in that year. A chardonnay, traminer, trebbiano, pinot noir, cabernet and a cabernet port are available. The new winery restaurant is open for lunch every day and for dinner on weekends by arrangement. Visitors are welcome to taste the wines and walk around the vineyard3 .
