Kandos Ratepayers Association.
WINDING-UP MEETING.
DISBURSING THE FUNDS.
On Sunday morning the winding up meeting of the Kandos Ratepayers' Association was held at Mr. J. W. McGarrity's residence, in Angus Avenue, next door to the Angus Memorial Hall, owing to the hall not being available. The members present were Messrs. A. Clifford, H. Clifford, Thos. McGhee, J. Geoghegan. Thos. Howe, J. C. Strong, A. R. Taylor (the association's representative before the Appeal Court), Mr. J. W. McGarrity (treasurer), and A. B. Kempster (secretary).
In the absence of the president, Mr. A. P. Meany, Mr. J. W. McGarrity read the treasurer's report, which showed that the association had a credit balance of £5/0/9 in hand.
On the motion of Mr. H. Clifford, seconded by Mr. J. C. Strong, it was resolved to give Mr. A. R. Taylor £2/10/ in recognition of the valuable work he did for the association in preparing the appeals against their assessments, and representing them before the Appeal Court.
It was decided, on the motion of Mr. A. Clifford, seconded by Mr. A. R. Taylor, that the secretary be given £1/1/- for his services.
Mr. H. Clifford moved, and Mr. T. McGhee seconded, that the treasurer be paid the sum of 10/6.
Mr. J. W. McGarrity protested against this, and said he would much prefer the balance of the association's funds to be devoted to the relief of some deserving case of distress, such as that of the widow of the late Mr. Charles Fuller, of Rylstone, who had seven young children to support.
The members pressed this motion upon Mr. McGarrity, and it was carried unanimously, Mr. McGarrity stating that he would hand it over to Mrs. Charles Fuller.
Mr. J. C. Strong was appointed auditor, and duly examined the accounts, which he found in order.
Mr. A. Clifford moved, Mr. T. McGhee seconded, and it was resolved that the auditor's report be received.
It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. A. Clifford, seconded by Mr. A. R. Taylor, that the balance of the association's funds, amounting to 10/3, he handed over to Mrs. Charles Fuller, of Rylstone, and that the association be wound up1
