The Cassilis Church.
Service was held at the new Church of England on Sunday last. The building was recently erected by Mr. Highfield, of Rylstone, and is a very fine structure. The Bishop of Bathurst will officially open the church in a few weeks1

Cassilis Church of England.
The fine new Church of England at Cassilis was consecrated on Sunday by the Bishop of. Newcastle, assisted by Archdeacon White and Rev. J. Vosper of Merriwa. The building which is free from debt is dedicated to St Columbo. In the afternoon twelve candidates were confirmed2

The new seats for the Church of England at Cassilis, that have lain in Mr. Stoddart's workshop for many months through the difficulty of having them conveyed from Mudgee, have at last arrived. The additional seats will be found to be a great convenience. The new communion railing is also being fitted in its place. - "Standard"3

The lining of the roof of the Cassilis Church of England is nearly completed, and will soon be ready for varnishing. Even in its unfinished state it adds to the beauty and dignity of the church. It has also had the effect of making sound less resonant in the building. The next question to be faced is the small deficit which will exist when the work is done. But those who have shown themselves jealous for the beauty and adornment of -r.iiu[r_ i.ini|.-,, Trnri-imni ?nvrT--'^ra concerned about a trifling deficit, and the current opinion seems to be that deficits exist for the pleasure of wiping them out. Collecting cards are out, and it may be that when they are returned and summed up the result will be no deficit at all4

CHURCH BUILT IN 1900
St. Columba’s Church of England was built in 1900 and replaces the slab churches built earlier last century.
The church’s foundation stone was laid by Mrs. Alexander Busby, of Cassilis Station on June 22, 1900.
A tender by R. J. Highfield, contractor, was accepted for £639-13-4d.
A Cassilis Parish was set up on July 1, 1876 with its first minister, Rev. W. G. McPherson.
His parish took in Cassilis, Denison Town, Coolah, Uarbry and Turee.
In 1891 Cassilis came into the Merriwa Parish and is administered from Merriwa now by the Rev. Mr. Scoven6
