Opening a Bush Church.
Wilbertree, a little township fifteen miles from Mudgee, was the scene of an interesting ecclesiastical ceremony on July 16, when a new Roman Catholic church was opened with all due ritual. The ceremony was performed by the Right Rev. Dr. Byrne, Bishop of Bathurst, assisted by the Rev. M. Long, of Gulgong. The building was crowded to its utmost capacity, and the congregation included visitors from Gulgong, Mudgee, Home Rule, and Canadian, and many members of other denominations. The ceremony of blessing, the walls of the building was watched with great interest, and the Bishop afterwards celebrated mass. The balance of the debt remaining on the edifice was reduced from £70 to £262 .
