How the Cudgegong Shire is Being Covered
THE menace of bush fires is being coped with in the country around Mudgee in heroic fashion. Well indeed are countrymen responding to the call to organise themselves into brigades to fight the fire demon, and already the shire council has registered 128 names in five areas, and negotiations are proceeding in respect of five others. These brigades, which are officially recognised and work under regulations will cover the entire shire.
The particulars are as follow: -
PYRAMUL
Formed in 1939 this brigade takes in an area to the south of the shire, its boundaries running at one point close to Cudgegong-Limestone. The captain is Mr. Noel Croake, and the vice-captains, Messrs. Milton Price, John Hundy, Cecil Hawkins and Harry Price. The president and treasurer is Mr. Arthur Downey, and the secretary Mr. Richard Croake. There are at present 40 members in this Brigade. Telephone: Pyramul P.O1 .

Clerk's Report.
Bush Fire equipment. - "I have advised the Local Government Department that equipment to the value of £1,162 will be ordered for bush fire brigades for the year ending 30th June, 1954. The brigades have requested the following items: -
Pyramul: 1/120 gallon tank, £10/2/6; 4 knapsacks, £17/8/-; 4 axes, £4/8/-2 .

7 December 1953
At the annual meeting of the Pyramul Bush Fire Brigade, all office bearers were re-elected for the ensuing year. They are: Captain, Mr. Noel Croake; vice captains Messrs. H. Price, N. Price and R. Hundy; hon. secretary Mr. J. Croake; hon. treasurer Mr. A. Downey3 .
