To the east is Mount Frome, the highest range, with a somewhat sparse growth of sombre-looking timber, banked up against the blue sky. The landscape here is very picturesque. At the foot of the mount there is a pretty stretch of level country, intersected by the Cudgegong, and banked by steep wooded hills. The level country is partly agricultural and semi-pastoral in character, with here and there the homes of thriving settlers, while some of the fine residences of the big landed classes crown some of the stately heights1
