Some good land is passed and some very well kept farms, and the old cherry tree hill hotel is closed, but the place is now used as a homestead for the farm along the road. I called at a neat farm house to inquire a direction I wanted and was surprised to find that the owners were two young ladies from Sydney. Tired of town life and its many tram-mels they had left it and bought a farm, and first-class farmers they certainly, were. I was kindly asked to join in a cup of tea and was laughingly told if I had been five minutes later, would have found no one at home as they were off out on the farm. They have, I think they said, some 900 acres of land and what do you think their work was, fire sapping the timber, that is putting fires around the trees to kill them. Now ladies, don't curl your pretty lips or even turn your eyes up - these two farmers could play and sing their home is refined and they are two bonnie Aussies. They have a couple of men working for them, and can take a turn at most things on the farm. I enjoyed my cup of tea, admired their pluck and resumed my journey, with a wish that I might meet my hostesses another time, when well merited success had crowned their efforts. Their names I withhold for many reasons2 .
