How the Cudgegong Shire is Being Covered
THE menace of bushfires is being coped with in the country around Mudgee in heroic fashion. Well indeed are countrymen responding to the call to organise themselves into brigades to fight the fire demon, and already the shire council has registered 128 names in five areas, and negotiations are proceeding in respect of five others. These brigades, which are officially recognised and work under regulations will cover the entire shire.
The particulars are as follow: -
WOLLAR BRIGADE
This brigade was formed in 1937 and covers a large area north and south of the town of Wollar. The captain is Mr. R. V. Single and the deputy-captains, Messrs. Keith F. Single, J. J. Sheehan, G. E. Robinson, A. G. Barton, A. C. Robinson, who is also secretary and treasurer. This brigade has 65 members1
