Mudgee winery in the red
ne of the best known winemakers in the Mudgee region has gone into liquidation, and 274,000 litres of his red wine will go under the hammer in an auction this afternoon.

Andrew Harris Wines was established in 1991and produced its first vintage in 1994.

The management of Andrew Harris Wines declined to comment on the reasons for the winery being wound up.

But Scott Burns, from Burns and Co Auctions, who'll handle the sale today, acknowledges the general oversupply in Australian wines.

"There is a big glut of red wine about," he said.

"There is no doubt that a lot of wineries just have too much, and there's too much about, but we think that the quality of this wine will stand for itself hopefully, in the sale1 ."
