1897

SUICIDE AT LUE.

RYLSTONE, Monday.

An Inquest was held on Saturday respecting the death, of Mr. W. R. Odds, station-master at Lue, who shot himself on Friday. The evidence showed that deceased placed the muzzle of the gun In his mouth arid operated the trigger by means of a piece of string, which he pulled with his toe. A verdict was returned that death was due to a gun-shot wound, self Inflicted, while suffering from temporary insanity. Deceased was about 36 years of age and well respected, and his death has cast a gloom over the district. The corpse was taken to Sydney by Saturday night's train for burial1 .

1903

On Saturday our very popular station-master, Mr. Irwin, who has been promoted to Rylstone, was presented, with a silver tea and coffee set and a dozen silver spoons as a mark of the wide esteem in which he is held2 .

1906

Lue Station.

Mr. Chapman is the new stationmaster in charge at Lue. The new officer was formerly a resident of Mudgee, but left with his parents some years ago3 .

1913

The local stationmaster, Mr. Mylchrist, has been transferred to Oaklands. Mr. Mylchrist, who is most obliging, will be greatly missed4 .

1914

Our local station master, Mr. G. R. Cavanaugli. is expecting a shift any day from Lue and the public will be very sorry to lose him5
