Mudgee's newest suburb officially opened
Mudgee's first master-planned community, Caerleon, was officially opened on Tuesday by Member for Dubbo Troy Grant and Mayor Des Kennedy.

Mr Grant cut the ribbon to mark the release of the first 56 lots of the development, which is planned to include an over 55s living development, childcare centre and shops, and extensive open spaces and playgrounds adjoining restaurants and cafes.

Caerleon director Nathan Davis said the entire estate represented a huge investment by developers and home owners over the next 10 to 20 years.

Two-hundred and sixty-seven DA approved lots will be released on the site in the first four or five stages.

With half of the first stage already sold, the first residents of the estate are expected to move into their new homes before Christmas.

A development application for a villas for over 55s is currently before Mid-Western Regional Council, Mr Davis said.

'It's exciting after four years of hard work to get here, but it has been well worth the wait,' Mr Davis said.

Mr Grant said the investment in the Caerleon development showed confidence in the Mudgee and Central Western region.

Mr Grant said he was particularly impressed with was that NBN connectivity has been incorporated into planning of the subdivision.

'We get told about the strength of the economy and to see what it translates into is a sign of confidence in the direction and policy settings for of our government,' he said1 .
