Property Shop clearing sale attracts hundreds of bidders
A clearing sale held at 'Tarawong' at Upper Mebul on Saturday drew an estimated crowd of up to 800 people from all over the Central West as well as the Hunter Valley and Victoria.
The Property Shop director Andrew Palmer said the clearing sale was one of the largest he had been involved in, attracting 388 registered bidders for the auction of farm equipment and cattle.
Mr Palmer attributed the success of the sale to the good reputation of vendors Rob and Anne Lark, the high standard of presentation of equipment and stock, and the current strength of the cattle, sheep and wool markets.
Mr and Mrs Lark sold 'Tarawong' through The Property Shop last year and the sale saw the dispersal of their quality Angus herd.
Forty-three three-year-old cows sold for over $3200 a head, and 89 five-year-old cows sold for more than $1500 each.
The auction also achieved good prices for equipment, including $70,000 for a tractor, $29,000 for a seeder, and $19,000 for a Isuzu truck.
The sale was conducted in conjunction with Milling Stuart of Dunedoo and Mr Palmer thanked John, Jamie and Angus Stuart.
Angus Stuart of Milling Stuart said the quality of the plant and equipment was first class and the cattle were outstanding.
'That was reflected in the number of people in attendance and the prices achieved across the board,' he said1 .
