Rylstone Cemetery
Headstones bear witness that burials took place in this cemetery as early as the 1850s, but it was not until the 19th May, 1868, that an area of 5 acres was officially dedicated for the purpose. Portions allotted to the various denominations were:
- 1 acre 2 roods each for the Church of England and the Roman Catholic CHurch
- 1 acre for the Wesleyans and the Presbyterians
- 3 roods for other denominations
- 1 rood for members of the Jewish faith
A further 2 acres east of the original cemetery was added on 11th March, 18811 .
