Bombira Estate under way
Work has begun on the first stage release of the Bombira Estate on the northern edge of Mudgee, a development that has intrigued the local area for several years.

The 136-lot residential development is located on the on Ulan Road, close to but opposite the Australian Rural Education Centre (AREC) site.

Agent Adam Woods cleared up who is developing the site and said progress is moving on stage one, which will be a loop located near the Ulan Road side of the site.

'Des Kennedy has actually sold the site and it's been purchased by MAAS Group, who have a lot of experience developing property in Dubbo and now they're branching out into Mudgee,' he said.

'They see Mudgee as a stable market to diversify and they're handling all elements regarding construction and marketing the properties.

'They've come into in the last few months and progress is really moving ahead; a lot has been going on behind the scenes.

'The ability to handle the earthworks right through means they're able to control the timelines on it.'

The lots in the first release are 2000-2390sqm and Mr Woods said that interest in the development has been strong.

'The first stage, where work has begun, has been released and we're anticipating that they'll be registered by November which will allow people to start building before Christmas,' he said.

'Bombira has been such a premium and established area here in Mudgee and the last land development out here was back in 2004, with the extension of Robert Hoodle Grove.

'So it's 12 years since the last large release and there's only been individual blocks in Robert Hoodle.

'The uptake on it has been really exciting, given land locally has been quite steady of late, there's a real buzz about this place.'

MAAS Group was started in 2003 by Dubbo businessman, Wes Maas, as a supplier of supplier of heavy earthworks machinery and has since moved into property development.

Mr Maas said that the Southlakes land release they developed in Dubbo is very similar to what is planned for the Bombira Estate.

And that it too is based on blocks around the 2000sqm size and that the landscaping will be comparable1 .
